About Home Outage Plan

Home Outage Plan is an independent planning and comparison resource for people choosing backup power for a home outage. It launched in October 2026.

What we do

You tell the planner which plug-in items you need to keep running and a little about your home. It compares those needs with specifications published by each manufacturer, then shows three ways through an outage: a portable power station, a portable generator, or both together. The aim is to narrow the choice to a few options that fit, not to show you every product on the market.

What we don’t do

• We do not lab-test products. Capabilities come from the manufacturers’ published specifications, and each figure links to its source.
• We do not estimate runtimes, plan connections to your home’s wiring, or plan backup for medical equipment.
• We do not sell products. Merchants handle every purchase.
